As of 2026, this restriction usually appears in two forms: either as an error when trying to add an item to the shopping cart, or — in more restrictive cases — as a fully blocked product page that prevents users from viewing even the specifications or customer reviews. We analyzed how these restrictions work and prepared a step-by-step guide on how to bypass them.
Why Does AliExpress “Hide” Certain Products?
When you see the message “Sorry, this item’s currently unavailable in your location”, it is usually not a random bug, but the result of one of four platform-level technical filters. 
Seller-Imposed Regional Restrictions
This is the most common reason. Sellers can manually control which countries they ship to through their store settings. A product may be hidden in your region for practical business reasons:
- High risk of losses. If parcels frequently go missing in a specific country or buyers often open disputes, sellers may disable shipping to that region to protect their store rating.
- Tax and customs complications. Due to VAT regulations (such as IOSS in Europe) or strict customs procedures, some sellers prefer not to display products in certain regions rather than deal with returned shipments and additional paperwork.
No Available Shipping Routes
AliExpress is tightly integrated with the Cainiao logistics network. When you open a product page, the platform instantly checks whether there is an active shipping method available for your country.
If shipping routes are temporarily disrupted, logistics hubs are overloaded, or a certain product category (such as large batteries) currently has no approved air shipping method, the system may automatically block the item. This prevents buyers from paying for products that cannot actually be delivered.
Regional Brand Policies
Large electronics brands such as Xiaomi, Realme, and others often divide markets into regional sales zones. If a brand already has official distributors in your country, it may request AliExpress to hide lower-priced versions intended for the Chinese domestic market. In this case, the “unavailable in your location” message helps protect local distribution channels and limits gray-market imports.
Automatic Compliance Filtering
AliExpress also uses automated compliance filters that analyze product titles and descriptions according to local laws and regulations. If the system identifies an item as restricted or potentially prohibited in your country (for example, certain seeds, knives, or surveillance devices), the platform may automatically block access to the product page. How to Open a “Blocked” Product Page

To remove this restriction and view the price, specifications, and customer reviews, you need to manually change your region in the site settings:
- On desktop: Click the flag icon in the top-right corner of the website header. In the “Ship to” field, select United States or Poland and choose any region within that country. Then click “Save”.
- In the mobile app: Go to “Account” → Settings (gear icon) → “Ship to” → select United States (or another available country).
What Changing the Country Actually Does
Changing the country in AliExpress settings is a technical workaround for bypassing visual content restrictions. This action updates the cookies stored in your browser, after which AliExpress no longer identifies you as a customer from a restricted region and loads the full product page.
This is especially useful if you want to access complete information about the item. You will be able to view real product photos, customer reviews from other countries, detailed technical specifications, and the actual product price without regional limitations.
Keep in mind that this method only unlocks access to the product page itself. It does not remove the shipping restriction, so to actually place an order you may still need to find another seller or use a parcel forwarding service.
How to Order a Product If the Product Page Is Blocked
If you managed to open the product page but still cannot place an order directly, there are several reliable ways to solve the problem:
- Search for the same product from another seller. This is usually the easiest option. Use image search in the AliExpress app or enter the exact model name manually. Since the same product is often sold by dozens of different stores, there is a good chance another seller does not restrict shipping to your region.
- Contact the seller directly. Send the store a message and ask about shipping options. In many cases, sellers can manually adjust shipping settings for a specific item or offer an alternative logistics method that is not tied to AliExpress’s automatic regional filters.
- Use a parcel forwarding service. If the item is exclusive and unavailable for direct international shipping, you can place the order using the warehouse address of a forwarding company in a supported country, such as the US or an EU member state. Once the package arrives there, the forwarding service will ship it to your actual address.
An “unavailable in your location” message is not always a permanent restriction. In many cases, it simply means the seller has not configured standard shipping routes for your country.
